Joe's Crab Shack recipe for crab dip is one of my favorite recipes when I dine at the popular seafood restaurant. My family and I are regular diners there. It is an extremely family friendly place where great food is served and where the waiters and waitresses sing and dance for the dinner crowd.
The first Crab Shack opened in Houston, Texas in 1991. They began selling merchandise in house in 1993. The "bite me shirt" (black with a small red crab depicted on the front) was one of the most popular items for sale. In 1995, the wait staff began singing and dancing for the patrons and the "Macarena" song was an early favorite. The restaurant sells millions of pounds of crab each year and serves snow, dungeness, king and soft shell crab at most of their restaurants. Bibs, crab crackers and a large roll of paper towels come with every steam pot sold. Very recently, a new plastic crab "zipper" was invented to help make it easier to open the claws and get the meat out. There are more than 100 Crab Shack locations throughout the United States.
